A Resource About Talking to Your Doctor About Headaches
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you know that that one of the oldest and most commonly heard
complaints that still abounds today is "I have a headache!"? As a matter of
fact, its estimated that 45 million Americans suffer from chronic, recurrent
headaches spending more than $400 million each year on over the counter pain
relievers. The National Headache Foundation (NHF) is dedicated to helping
people recognize and obtain treatment for their headaches. A new brochure
published by NHF entitled "How to Talk to Your Doctor About Headaches"
provides important guidelines for people to consider when seeking help. This
"interactive" brochure includes information on keeping a "headache diary",
"language" used to describe headache pains and over all hints on how best to
communicate with a doctor. You may obtain this important educational brochure
by requesting it from National Headache Foundation, 5252 N. Western Avenue,
Department FD, Chicago, IL 60625. Be sure to enclose a stamped, self
addressed business sized envelope with 45 cents postage along with your
request. Booklets of this nature provide you, the patient with the most
important skill of all, the ability to discuss your problems openly with your
physician, and to obtain the responses that help you understand your ailment,
and aid you in overcoming the distress that illness brings.
